This piece illustrates the feeling of being stuck. The desire to engage with people, build relationships, live in the present, but an inability to do so due to the never-ending replays of past hurt and trauma. The girl in the painting is stuck in a time vacuum of sorts, separated from reality and invisible to the gaze as is a drawing board amongst artwork. She is simultaneously everywhere yet nowhere, someone who simply exists but cannot engage.
